A Coming-of-Age Day 2013

Today is "Seijin-Shiki" throughout Japan,as you know.
This is the scene of the ceremony (feast) of coming-of age celebration.
These new adults are opening sake barrels by breaking lids with wooden hammers.
This is called "Kagami-nuki".
In this year,1,220,000 people became new adults in Japan.
I wish you all happiness!

  2. @Walter,
    Thank you,Walter:)
    Yes,I think so,too.
Traditional kimono is the mainstream for men on this day,but recently some people wear suit like this photo.
I think it's the current trend in Japan.

  3. Wow, this is a big number, Kumiko! Very nice photos you have here. This is a great celebration.

I'm reading your blog in Hong Kong right now:) I saw many things here which made me to think of you: "Kumiko would like this", and I made a photo! I will be back home after 3 days, and towards the end of the month I'll start to write about this travel.
