Peonies temple in Nara (Hase-Temple) in 2014,May

Hello,everyone.
I visited Hase-Temple in Nara last weekend.
As you know, this temple is established about 1300 years ago,
and it is famous for beautiful peonies in May.
Now is the best season to visit this temple.
Hope you'll enjoy this beautiful temple and peonies :)

And I plan to update my next post on May 18.

This temple is also famous for this five-stores pagoda.
There are a nice pine trees garden.
The scenery from this temple was so great.

Japanese yellow rose (Kerria)
Thank you for visiting my blog,
Hope you'll have a wonderful day!

  1. Travelling back in time beholding an important and historic architecture in an atmosphere of rich natural beauty in life and the pleasant aroma and colors of these Peonies should be a positive suggestion for this spring in Japan
    Beautiful photos.

  5. All of these peonies are wonderful! In my garden there are peonies too May be not so gorgeous but still. I have 6 bushes of normal peonies and two of shrub peony. The later ones have been already in bloom and one of the others too. The rest of them are full of buds and I am waiting for them to open. But none of them have the huge flowers I have seen in Asia, in China and South Korea. Lucky you, you can go and visit each temple garden with different flowers, blooming in different moments. I think there are more temples and shrines in Kyoto and Nara than the days of the year, so you may visit one garden per day:) And I am expecting the results, shown in your photos:)

  6. Thank you for posting so many pictures, Kumiko-san. They make me feel like I was there myself. The peonies are beautiful and so many ! The view from the gardens is beautiful. The pine garden is gorgeous. I have a lot of kerria japonica in my garden too, but with the windy storms of the last weeks , most of the flowers are gone. I am looking forward to your next post.

The buds of your peonies are going to unfold soon, that sounds great!
Maybe Asian peonies are bigger than others.
One garden per day? Hahaha! It is so hard....
Please have a great day,Traveling Hawk!
