Visiting Fushimi Inari Shrine at the beginning of the year 2016 (Kyoto)

On January 4,I visited Fushimi Inari Shurine in Kyoto.
There are so many people here!
I wonder if we can reach to the main shrine safely...

So many people!
Finally we gave up going to the main shrine...
These gates are famous "Senbon-Torii".
People are praying for the health, happiness of this year.
If you want to visit Fushimi-Inari, It might be better to avoid the beginning of the year.
Especially if you don't want to get involved in crowdedness!
If you visit here, you can't miss "passing through the gates".
It drives out the evil spirits.

  1. This is how I imagined the temples grounds on January 1! It was so deserted when we have been there together, Kumiko! Nevertheless, I liked it!

  2. Thank you,Traveling Hawk! It's my pleasure if you like it.
Yes indeed,it was unbelievably crowded there,it's more than we expected. It was shocking to us.
Indeed, when you and I visited there in April, there were only a few people! It's really contrasting.
